19.06 — 26.09.2010

One year ago, your school (among 120) was invited by the Musée de l’Elysée to participate in the international photography competition called reGeneration and to submit the portfolios of your most promising students. 80 photographers from 48 schools were selected by the curators of the museum, among which one or several of your students. Today, the Musée is proud to announce the opening of its exhibition reGeneration2 : Tomorrow’s Photographers Today on June 18th. We are particularly happy to invite and welcome the 80 photographers in Lausanne. During 3 days, several activities and panel discussions will enrich their stay.

From early July the exhibition will also be presented in France at the Rencontres d'Arles, following which it will embark on an international tour in Cape Town, Milan, Pingyao, Miami, Budapest and New York, among other cities. The catalogue is published by Thames & Hudson (Paris/London) in French and in English and by Aperture (New York) for its American version.

Furthermore, we take the opportunity to inform you that the Musée de l’Elysée celebrates this summer its 25th anniversary with a rich and varied programme developed in conjunction with William Ewing, who leaves the museum after 14 years as director, and Sam Stourdzé who became head of the institution on the 1st of May 2010.

reGeneration2 : Tomorrow’s Photographers Today is the main exhibition, but we will also present three exhibitions in a building located in the heart of Lausanne, the Espace Arlaud : The Prix Pictet: Benoit Aquin, Nadav Kander, Ed Kashi and Munem Wasif, Raphael Dallaporta, Protocole and Le Musée de l’Elysée en affiches.

We would like to thank you for your precious collaboration. See attached some information about the opening of the exhibition in Lausanne.

Yours sincerely,

Nathalie Herschdorfer and William A. Ewing, curators of reGeneration2 and the team of the Musée de l’Elysée
